The ninth-seeded Hornets visited the Panthers for an opening-round clash after posting a 6-12 conference record during the regular season.
Lynchburg's leading scorer in the regular season, freshman Maddie Nimmo, led the team with 13 points. Nimmo made a pair of triples on the night, and Ashley Vandergrift also connected twice from downtown.
Ferrum took control of the game early with a 22-8 lead after the first quarter.
Nimmo scored seven of her 13 points in the third quarter as the Hornets tried to mount a comeback, but the Panthers never allowed Lynchburg to get closer than 12 points.
Taylor Gantt scored a season-high seven points in the loss after logging 19 minutes, five rebounds, and shooting 5-6 from the free throw line.
The young Hornet team ended their season with eight of its nine leading scorers as freshmen. The only non-freshman in the top-9, sophomore Olivia Harris, was second on the team with 9.5 points per game. Freshman Macey Mullins led the team with 49 3-pointers made and came up just one 3 short of Harris' single-season record set a season ago.
