Box Score Ashland, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg men's lacrosse team fell to Randolph-Macon 13-9 Saturday afternoon.
The Yellow Jackets used a 10-2 run from the first to third quarter to take down the eighth-ranked Hornets 13-9.
Lynchburg stormed out to a 4-1 lead after the Yellow Jackets struck first in the opening quarter.
Jake Rust scored back-to-back man-up goals both on assists from Spencer Vandenberg during the four-goal streak.
Then it was all Randolph-Macon. The Yellow Jackets outscored the Hornets 10-2 including a seven-goal run from the end of the first quarter to the beginning of the fourth.
The Hornets scored twice in the early going of the final period, but the Yellow Jackets went up 13-8 with nine minutes to play and the Hornets went quiet.
Vandenberg tallied a hat trick with 1:09 as Lynchburg dropped its first contest to the Yellow Jackets since 1993.
Riley Hastings took over the team lead in points with 42 on the season after assisting twice and scoring in the loss.
Lynchburg (9-5, 5-1 ODAC) takes on Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday, April 22 at 1 p.m. Lynchburg will be hosting its Hoep for Halle - Mental Health Awareness game.
