Box Score Greensboro, N.C. -- The University of Lynchburg men's lacrosse team downed Guilford 24-5 on Wednesday night.
The Hornets tallied 24 goals for the second game in a row. They have scored 48 goals in the last two games marking their most scores in a two-game span since dropping 51 at the beginning of the 2022 campaign against Ferrum (25) and Greensboro (26).
A trio of Hornets scored hat tricks in the lopsided win. Jake Rust, the team-leader in goals, Kayden Hinchey, and Spencer Vandenberg tallied the three-goal performances for 13th-ranked Lynchburg.
Finn Schmidt, who scored two goals with an assist, tallied Lynchburg's first goal as the Hornets went on a seven-goal run to begin the game.
The Hornets led 10-2 at halftime. Tyler Hadley played the opening 30 minutes in goal and made seven saves.
Vandenberg scored all three of his goals in the second quarter and has scored a hat trick in his last three games.
Kayden Hinchey also recorded his hat trick in a 15-minute span. He tallied his second-career hat trick with an unassisted scored to begin the fourth and then capped it off on assists from Robert Kirkland and Owen Hacker.
Chris Darminio recorded his patented five ground balls while Darren Palma led the team with six ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Lynchburg (11-5, 7-1 ODAC) hosts Hampden-Sydney on Saturday, April 29. The Senior Day game will decide the regular-season champion in the conference.
