Harrisonburg, Va. -- The Hornets took down the Eastern Mennonite Royals in dominant fashion, cruising to a 3-0 sweep.
The contest was highlighted by Jaina Leek's career milestone mark, recording her 1,000th career assist. Needing 26 to reach that accolade, Leek surpassed it with ease recording 30 on the day. Leek also collected her 600th of the season and is on pace to obliterate her previous season-high mark of 353.
Throughout the contest, Leek and the Hornets kept EMU guessing. Lynchburg finished with five players recording five or more kills.
The Hornets had a phenomenal day from the service line as well, tallying 10 aces over the three frames. This was their second-highest total in a three-set match this season.
Nonetheless, the Lynchburg defense set the tone in this meeting. The Hornets held EMU to a -.037 attacking percentage on the day, as the towering front line made things challenging for the Royals.
The Hornets now improve to 12-10 on the season and will continue their road trip with a match at Hollins on Friday, Oct. 18.
