Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg men's soccer team is set for its second-to-last road match of the season when it heads to Bridgewater, Va. to take on the Eagles on Wednesday, October 16 at 4 p.m.

The Hornets (6-2-3, 4-1-1) have been an impenetrable force on defense the last four affairs, leaving their opponents scoreless in each one. Lynchburg claimed three 2-0 shutout victories over its last four games. Last time out, the Hornets took on the Royals and finished with a scoreless draw, holding EMU without a single shot all contest.

The men's soccer squad is atop the conference in goals allowed this season with six, one of just four ODAC teams with single-digit goals allowed so far in the 2024 campaign. The team's .573 goals against average is 17th best in Division III and the best mark in the conference. Also, the Hornets have a .636 shutout percentage this season, which ranks ninth in DIII and atop the ODAC.

In the series against Bridgewater, the men's soccer crew owns a 14-7-1 advantage since 1999. Each of the last three clashes have gone to the Hornets, with the most recent victory coming in the fashion of a 1-0 win on Sept. 27, 2023. The last victory the Eagles claimed was in the ODAC tournament in 2018 with a 1-0 finish. 

This season, Bridgewater owns a 6-4-3 record, including a 2-3 record in conference play. The Eagles have dropped their last two contests against Hampden-Sydney and Eastern Mennonite. Two of the top 10 goal scorers this season are members of the Bridgewater squad: Trey Widrick (fifth, six goals) and Riley Queen (eighth, five goals).

Following Wednesday's contest, the Hornets will return to the home turf to take on Washington and Lee on Saturday, October 19 at 2 p.m. during Homecoming weekend.
