Lynchburg, Va. -- The Lynchburg Hornets continued their hot streak, taking down Randolf-Macon 4-1 to win their fourth consecutive match.
After the senior day festivities concluded, the Hornets took the pitch to cap off the homecoming slate of games. Within seconds, the Yellow Jackets made it clear that this would not be a ride in the park.
Less than a minute into the match, a centering feed from Lora Bertram went past two Hornet defenders and found a wide-open Lauren Brokaw on the doorstep to give RMC a 1-0 lead.
This quick goal from the Yellow Jackets, the first allowed from Lynchburg in four games, lit a fire underneath the Hornets. Just six minutes later, Ella Tampio-Iorns was taken down inside the box resulting in a penalty kick, which McKenna Dahm would convert for the equalizer.
To wrap up the first half, Morgan Oliver found the back of the net once again to give the Hornets a 2-1 lead going into the break. In the following 45, Ella Tampio-Iorns set the tone early striking from outside the 18 to add to the Lynchburg total. In the 61st minute, Ava Olson put the match to bed off an assist from Madelyn Boyce for a final score of 4-1.
The Hornets now improve to 8-4-2 (5-0-1) and have now outscored their opponents 15-1 in their last four. Their next match will be on the road vs. Bridgewater this upcoming Wednesday, Oct. 23.
