Blacksburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg equestrian squad earned its fourth consecutive first place finish with 38 points at the Virginia Tech IHSA on Saturday.
The Hornets' 38 points was nine more than the next closest team, which was Washington and Lee with 29 points. Lynchburg earned first place in five of the 16 classes throughout the show: Intermediate Fences B, Intermediate Flat A and B, Limit Fences A, and Limit Flat A.
Senior
Alexandria Russell earned first place in Intermediate Flat A and juniorÂ
Elle Nutting snagged first in Intermediate Flat B. Junior
Zoey Horn claimed the top spot in Intermediate Fences B. Junior
Ava Jackson took first in Limit Fences A and freshman
Jessica McElhaney rounded out Lynchburg's first-place finishers in Limit Flat A.
The Hornets claimed four second-place spots in the show as well. Senior
Lucy Metzler took second in Open Flat and sophomore
Kristin Palmer followed with a third-place finish in the class. Junior
Victoria Riordan earned second in Novice Flat A. Freshman
McKenzie Burch claimed second in Limit Fences B and Limit Flat B to wrap up the second-place Lynchburg performers.
Margaret Stell, a senior, claimed third in Open Fences B. Freshman
Natalie Holdren and sophomore
Reese Albany each had fourth-place finishes in Novice Flat B and Novice Flat C, respectively.Â
The Lynchburg IHSA squad returns to Blacksburg, Va. for its next competition when it competes in the VT Tournament of Champions on Saturday, December 7, starting at 10 a.m.
