Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- The Lynchburg women's basketball team got their conference schedule underway against No. 7 Washington & Lee in a 66-47 loss.
The Generals came out strong in the first 10 minutes of play. Washington & Lee jumped out to a 23-9 advantage behind a barrage of 3-pointers from Riley Bryant. She would finish the contest five of nine from beyond the arc with 15 points.Â
In the second quarter, Lynchburg slowly cut into the defecate with tough play inside the paint from
Bree Spainhour. The junior forward finished the affair with 10 points, five rebounds, and four assists.
Kate Littlejohn (11) and Spainhour were the two Hornets that reached double-digit points.Â
Nonetheless, the third quarter was all Washington & Lee. The Generals outscored Lynchburg 14-3 coming out of the half, utilizing their size to their advantage. Mary Schleusner dominated the interior in the second half, leaving Turner with a game-high 19 points and 16 rebounds.Â
The Hornets' field goal percentage of 26%, allowed the Generals to dominate the glass as well. Washington & Lee controlled the glass 52-30. Â
Lynchburg will stay home for their next game on Sunday, December 1, against North Carolina Wesleyan.Â
