Box Score Arlington, Va. -- The Lynchburg men's basketball team battled back from 17 down to defeat Dickinson 82-75 in overtime.
In the first half of the Hornets' second game of the Pablo Coto Tournament, Lynchburg was outscored 47-30. The Red Devils shot over 50% from the floor and went 10-for-19 from three. However, in the next half, they flipped the script.
The second half got started with a pair of triples from
Jayson Easton. The Junior forward finished with 18 points in the contest, one point shy of his career high.
The Lynchburg backcourt duo of
Jake Hart and
Piercen Young made their presence known in a variety of ways, especially in the final 25 minutes. Young led the team in assists against the Red Devils, dishing out a career-high eight dimes along with recording eight rebounds. Hart tallied five boards and five assists and snatched two steals and a block on the defensive end. The duo combined for 21 points as well.
The Hornets held Dickinson to 17 points in the second half on 23% shooting from the field and just one made 3-pointer in 10 attempts.
Freshman forward,
Jamarcus Brown was a crucial piece in sealing the victory, contributing eight of the 18 points in the overtime. Brown finished the afternoon with 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the floor to go along with two steals and a block on the defensive end.
Lynchburg now sits at 2-2 on the season and returns home for a three-game homestand. Their next contest will be this Tuesday, Nov. 26, at 5 p.m. against Methodist.
