Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg men's basketball team is back on the home court this Sunday, December 1 to square off against Newport News Apprentice School at 4:30 p.m. in Turner Gym.
The Hornets (3-2) are set for their second of three straight home games when the Builders come to the Hill City. Lynchburg rides back-to-back wins into tomorrow's outing after taking down Dickinson in overtime and Methodist by a 66-55 margin. Through five games this season,
Piercen Young and
Jamarcus Brown pace the Hornet offense with 14.4 and 13.0 points per game, respectively.
The last time these two programs met on the hardwood was 1992, which resulted in a 74-63 Lynchburg triumph. Newport News comes into the affair having lost its last competition to NC Wesleyan in overtime, 78-75. Prior to that, the Builders met a common foe in Methodist and claimed an 82-63 victory. Karee Smith and Adrion Wall lead the squad on the offensive side. Smith averages 16.3 points per outing while Wall scores 14.8 points per game.Â
After tomorrow's matchup, the Hornets will close out its three-game home stand with its first ODAC opponent of the season in Bridgewater on Wednesday, December 4 at 7 p.m.
