Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg women's basketball team is set to host the first leg of a men's and women's basketball double header when NC Wesleyan visits Turner Gym on Sunday, December 1 at 2 p.m.
The Hornets (1-4) welcome the Bishops for their third home competition of the season. Last time out, Lynchburg was defeated by seventh-ranked Washington and Lee for the squad's first ODAC outing of the year. Four of the five starters for the Hornets scored nine or more points on the way to the 66-47 loss. Prior to that, Lynchburg took down Wilson with a commanding 70-38 victory.
Although the Bishops dropped their last matchup to Mary Washington, Wesleyan owns a 3-1 overall record and has defeated two ODAC programs so far this season in Averett and Roanoke. Through four games, NC Wesleyan has outscored and out-rebounded opponents by margins of 13.5 and 13.8 per game, respectively. Nadia Simmons (16.5 points per game), Corynthian Williams (11.7 ppg.), and Anaya Hall (10.3 ppg.) all average double-figure scoring and 7.0 rebounds per affair or better.
Since 2004, Lynchburg owns an 8-3 record in the series between the two programs. The Hornets have claimed victory in six of the last seven meetings on the hardwood, including the last outing with an 89-59 finish on Dec. 30, 2023. In that contest, Lynchburg scored 32 points in the third quarter while holding Wesleyan to nine and propelled the team to triumph.
