Lynchburg, Va. -- The Hornets picked up their third consecutive win in a 83-68 victory over Newport News Apprentise School, advancing to 4-2 on the season and stay unbeaten at home.
Junior forward
Jayson Easton led the Hornets in scoring with 18 points, all coming from beyond the arc with a career-high six made 3-pointers. As a team, Lynchburg finished with 13 triples, 11 of which came from three of their forwards, Buggs (3) Makovec (2).
Mason Makovec recorded his first collegiate double-double with a career-high 15 rebound and 12 points. Makovec was one of five Hornets that finished the afternoon with double-digit points.
Jamarcus Brown and
Tyler Buggs finished with 13 a piece and
Piercen Young tallied 15 off his own. Young impacted the game in every aspect, collecting seven rebounds, four assists, a steal, and a career-high three blocks.
Buggs also set a new career-high from three, with three made triples. Buggs was perfect from the floor, shooting four-for-four from the field and two-for-two from the charity stripe along with two rebounds and one steal.
Lyncburg will now begin its conference schedule, facing off against Bridgewater at home this Wednesday, Dec. 4, in Turner Gymnasium.
