Lynchburg, Va. -- The Hornets (4-2) begin their conference schedule at home this Wednesday, Dec. 4, against the Bridgewater Eagles (4-2).
In the last ten meetings between the two schools, Lynchburg has the advantage 6-4. Nonetheless, Bridgewater has won in the previous two meetings, including an 86-63 victory last season.
Lynchburg has won its last three contests and prevailed in its three home games this season. Three Hornets currently average double figures through six games: Piercen Young (14.5), Jamracus Brown (13.0), and Jayson Easton (10.5). Young is also coming off a phenomenal defensive week, with 7.5 RPG, 1.5 SPG, and 2 BPG, which earned him ODAC Defensive Player of the Week.
The Hornets have rebounded the ball exceptionally well this season, averaging over 40 rebounds per game. Senior forward Mason Makovec has led that charge, averaging a team-high eight and a half rebounds a game. Lynchburg has also shot the three at a high rate, making just under nine a game at 36%. Bridgwater has also allowed their opponents to shoot 36% from beyond the arc.
Entering the season, Bridgewater landed one spot above Lynchburg in the Preseason Poll at ninth. Bridgewater comes to the hill city following their most dominant win of the season, taking down Mary Baldwin 93-68 last Tuesday. The Eagles sport two of the top-10 leading scorers in the ODAC so far this season with Aaron Oates (18.5 ppg) and Jordan Cooper (16.5 ppg).
Following this affair, Lynchburg will continue its ODAC schedule with a road contest against Ferrum.
