Lynchburg, Va. -- The Lynchburg men's basketball (5-2) team will have their first ODAC road game this Saturday, Dec. 7, at Ferrum (6-0).
In the past 10 meetings, the Hornets have controlled the series 6-4. Last season, Ferrum came to Turner with an undefeated 7-0 record and were handed their first loss of the season, 80-68.
The Panthers are coming off a statement win over Averett on their home floor. The Averette Cougars have already tallied two top-25 wins this year and are receiving votes for the national rankings. The Panthers pulled away in this contest by winning the battle on the glass, 38-33, and the turnover differential, 10-18.
Ferrum's offense has been led by junior forward Alfredo Abel-Rivera, who scores the seventh most points per game in the ODAC at 18.2 PPG. Nevertheless, the Panthers have five separate players averaging double-figures in scoring this season. As a result, the team averages an ODAC-best 94.5 points per game. Additionally, the squad holds teams to only 60.7 points per game.
The Hornets enter this contest with a four-game win streak under their belt. This is the second away game thus far for Lynchburg, dropping their first game of the season at Pfeiffer. Lynchburg has been one of the best three-point shooting teams in the conference, led by Jayson Easton with an ODAC-high 21 three-point makes this season. Meanwhile, Piercen Young continues to lead the team in scoring with 14 PPG.
Following this game, Lynchburg will return home for a non-conference Christmas break match-up against Nazareth in the Wayne Profit Classic.
