Wolfe's 100th-career goal powers No. 17 Lynchburg men's lacrosse past Randolph-Macon

Box Score

Lynchburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg men's lacrosse graduate midfielder Dylan Wolfe scored three goals including the 100th of his career, and Tyler Hadley made 11 saves and scored a goal of his own as Lynchburg defeated Randolph-Macon 15-6 Saturday night.

The Hornets got revenge in the first meeting between the traditional Old Dominion Athletic Conference rivals since Randolph-Macon upset Lynchburg 13-9 in Ashland last season.

After nearly 10 minutes of scoreless play, Liam Holman kicked off a three-goal flurry for the Hornets to take a 3-0 advantage out of the first quarter. Holman scored twice in the game to match fellow freshman Cole Oprandi who recorded the first multi-goal game of his career.

38 seconds after Holman's goal, Dylan Wolfe ripped the back of the net for his 22nd goal of the season and the 100th of his five-year career. Wolfe recorded three goals in the game for his fifth hat trick of the season and the 15th of his career.

Finn Schmidt tacked one more onto the run to open the second quarter, giving Lynchburg a four-goal advantage before Randolph-Macon found its first score.

The good vibes would be short-lived for the Yellow Jackets, as Hadley stepped out of the crease and stopped at the midfield line before notching the second goal of his career 24 seconds later. Hadley's bid for "Sportscenter Top-10" was his second point of the season after recording a full-field assist earlier in the season against Salisbury.

Macon scored once more to answer Hadley's goal before Lynchburg ripped off its second 4-0 run to extend the lead to 9-2 early in the third quarter.

Lynchburg answered each of the next two Randolph-Macon goals with 3-0 runs, outscoring the visitors 9-4 in the second half to pick up the fifth conference victory of the season.

Riley Hastings scored all three of his goals during each of those runs as the leading point-scorer for Lynchburg secured his fifth career hat trick. He added an assist to reach four points in a game for the sixth time this season and has scored at least one point in every game this year.

On the defensive end, Cole Zacharias and Dom Zingo each caused two turnovers as part of a Lynchburg effort that forced seven en route to holding its opponent to single-digits for the seventh time this season. Lynchburg is 7-0 in those games.

Michael Kraus went 6-11 at the X and scooped up five ground balls in relief at the faceoff position.

Hadley's 11 saves in goal to four goals allowed earned him the win and a 73.3% save percentage, his second-highest of the season when facing at least three shots on goal.

Lynchburg (8-5, 5-1 ODAC) will take a two-game win streak on the road for a two-game stint against No. 20 Roanoke on Wednesday, April 17 and Hampden-Sydney on Saturday, April 20.
