No. 11 men's lacrosse set to take on No. 10 Washington and Lee

Lynchburg, Va. -- Not all rivalries are created equally, but the one between the Lynchburg men's lacrosse team and Washington and Lee could not be bigger. The pair of powerhouse programs have battled to a 19-19 split of the series since 1999. Lynchburg has outscored Washington and Lee 381-340 in that span, averaging out to 1.08 goals per game in differential. The last three meetings have each been decided by one goal and there have been 12 such close games in total. That's about 30% of the games played between these two teams. Washington and Lee has won 12 Old Dominion Athletic Conference championships to Lynchburg's nine, but the two foes have battled to a 3-3 tie in their six meetings in the title game which began in 2002.

The 11th-ranked Hornets boast a 70-16 home mark since the start of the 2015 season. However, the home team in this series has actually dropped four-straight contests, a stat that bodes well for the 10th-ranked Generals this weekend. W&L spoiled Lynchburg's party in last year's conference title game on Shellenberger Field before both teams advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament, with each losing to a team that would play for the national championship. Saturday's CODE RED affair could preview the 2024 ODAC championship game as the teams tied atop the preseason ODAC coaches' poll. You'll have to record the men's basketball Final Four because no lane of the track should be empty at 7 p.m. Saturday night for the 2024 season's most pivotal matchup yet.
