Winchester, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg men's soccer team opened up the regular season with a draw against Franklin and Marshall, 0-0, on Sunday afternoon.
The Hornets (0-0-1) and goalkeeper
Thomas Viscuso secured a clean sheet in their season debut, thanks in part to a backline that proved to be a force with one newcomer and two returners. Defenders
Ayden Cass,
William Casey and
Benjamin Velasquez all saw 90 minutes of action and held the Diplomats to just one shot on goal in the outing.
While Lynchburg had just one shot in the first 45 minutes, they laid on seven second-half shots but were unable to convert. Forward
Chris Bovo fired two dangerous shots on goal in 33 minutes of play and
Isaac Torres delivered one strike on net that was stopped by keeper Nolan Booth.
Lynchburg is set for its next competition at Oglethorpe University where they face Emory on Friday, September 6 at 3 p.m. To see the full 2024 Lynchburg men's soccer schedule,
