Brookhaven, Ga. -- The University of Lynchburg men's soccer team conceded two goals in the final 12 minutes of action and lost to Emory, 2-1, at Oglethorpe University for the John P. Salamone Invitational on Friday evening.
The Hornets (0-1-1) scored first in the early goings of the match as
Manzi Shalita buried his first goal of the season in the seventh minute off a feed from
Benjamin Velasquez. The sides battled back-and-forth for over 70 minutes without either being able to score. At the 78:59-mark, Emory leveled the game with a strike from Lorenzo Avalos. With just under three minutes to go, the Eagles hit the back of the net again to take the lead, a position which they kept for the remainder of the contest.
Lynchburg fired off seven shots in the contest and hit the cage on five of them. Shalita paced the offense with three shots, including two on goal.
Thomas Viscuso was the netminder for the outing and stopped two shots.Â
