Lynchburg, Va. - The Lynchburg women's volleyball teams collected an impressive win tonight, taking down the Randolph Wildcats 3-0. This is the second sweep of the season, coming in back-to-back matches.
The Hornets opened up the first set with an eruption of offense. Jania Leek was able to create great looks for her teammates as they punished the Wildcat defense. Tori Williamson led the way early, with five kills in the opening frame, and finished the set with an attacking percentage of .675. Lynchburg took the first set 25-15
During the second, the Hornets kept their foot on the gas, jumping out to a 15-7 advantage. From that point on Lynchburg would cruise to the finish line 25-16.
With their eyes on back-to-back sweeps, Lynchburg came alive once again in the middle of the third frame. An 11-1 run from the Hornets capitulated them out in front and led to a 25-17 win.
Lynchburg capitalized on their attacks all night long, finishing with an attacking percentage of .282, their third-highest on the year. Two Hornets finished the night with double-digit kills, Kailey Keough with 11 and Williamson with 12.
Four games into conference play, the Hornets now find themselves at 2-2 in the ODAC and 8-7 overall.
The Hornets' next match will be on the road in Washington, D.C. at Gallaudet University. The Hornets will begin their four-game weekend invitational with a double header on Friday vs. Catholic and Gallaudet, followed by matches vs. Bethel and Marymount on Saturday.
