Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg men's soccer team is set for a weekend road trip to Brookhaven, Ga. for the John P. Salamone Invitational, hosted by Oglethorpe University. Lynchburg is set to face Emory on Friday, September 6 at 3 p.m. before taking on host Oglethorpe on Sunday, September 8 at 1:30 p.m.

Since 2006, the Hornets have a 2-5 record against the Emory Eagles. The sides have split the last four contests, dating back to 2010, with the last two wins going to Eagles' way. The most recent matchup was on Sept. 18, 2021, where Emory edged out Lynchburg, 1-0. The last victory for the Hornets was a 2-0 outing on Sept. 2, 2011 at a neutral site in Roanoke, Va.

The last four affairs between Lynchburg and Oglethorpe have all ended in wins for the Hornets. Most recently, the men's soccer squad took down the Storming Petrels 2-0 at home on Sept. 10, 2023.

Last time out, the Hornets played their first match of the season against Franklin and Marshall, which concluded in a scoreless draw. Lynchburg peppered the cage in the second half with seven shots but were unable to convert for a goal. Keeper Thomas Viscuso and the starting backline earned the first clean sheet of the season.

After this invitational, the men's soccer team will host its first home competition of the season when it welcomes William Peace on Thursday, September 12 at 7 p.m. This weekend's games will be streamed live and have live stats available.
