Lynchburg Set to Host Roanoke Maroons

Lynchburg, Va. -- After a two-game road trip, the Hornets (9-5) are back in action on their home floor to host the Roanoke Maroons (11-3) this Wednesday, Jan. 15, at 7:30 p.m.

Roanoke has had the Hornets' number in recent years, winning the past 10 meetings between the two schools. In these wins, the Maroons have won by an average of 16.8 points.

The Marrons sport a high-octane offense, scoring an ODAC-best 84.9 PPG. Roanoke scores at an extremely efficient rate as well, connecting on over 50% of their field goal attempts. Senior guard Joshua McClary headlines the Maroons offense, scoring the fourth most points in the ODAC at 17.1 PPG. McClary also leads the conference in assists, dishing out an average of 4.6 APG.

Defensively, Roanoke has disrupted opposing offenses all season long, tallying a conference-high 8.86 steals per game. Once again,  McClary leads the charge with the most steals per contest in the ODAC at 2.4 SPG. Alongside McClary in the backcourt, junior guard Marcus Morgan has collected 1.2 SPG. Turnovers will likely be the statistic to watch out for, as the Hornets lead the conference in turnovers per game (15.3) and the Maroons cause the most per game (16.1).

After dropping their first home contest of the season to Hampden-Sydney, the Hornets picked up back-to-back wins on the road over EMU and Shenandoah. Their last two victories were both tightly contested, winning by a combined five points.

Michael Gray has quickly become one of the primary scorers for the Hornets, putting up double-digit points in his last six games, three of which were 20 or more. Gray currently sits seventh in the conference for 3PM (2.0) and third for 3P% (.394).

Following this game, Lynchburg will have another two-game road stretch. This will begin in Virginia Beach against the Virginia Wesleyan Marlins on Saturday, Jan. 18.
