Lynchburg, Va. -- The Lynchburg Hornets (9-6) Travel to Virginia Beach to challenge the Virginia Wesleyan Marlins (13-3) this Saturday, Jan. 18.
In recent history, the Marlins have controlled the series between the two schools, winning eight of the last ten games. Additionally, Virginia Wesleyan bodes a seven-game winning streak over the Hornets that dates back to 2019.
So far this season, Virginia Wesleyan has proven to be a team that can hang with the best. Through their first 15 games, the Marlins have played two nationally ranked opponents, losing 72-74 to #5 CNU and beating #24 Guilford 69-50 in their most recent matchup.
Virginia Wesleyan has had the number one scoring defense in the ODAC this season, holding their opponents to just 57.5 PPG while allowing them to shoot 38% from the floor and 26% from three. The Marlins also rank top-three in the conference for steals (8.4) and blocks (3.6) per game.
The Hornets look to bounce back after a heartbreaking loss at the buzzer against Roanoke. While Lynchburg has won their last two away games, they have not won in TowneBank Arena since 1996.
