Lynchburg, Va. -- The Lynchburg Hornets (9-7) will travel to Danville on Wednesday, Jan. 22, for a 7:30 p.m. matchup against Averett (7-9).
The Hornets have controlled the series between the two schools in recent history, winning eight of the 10 most recent meetings. However, Averett's two wins came on their home court.Â
In their most recent game, Averett fell to the Bridgewater Eagles, 53-72 on the road. The Cougars sit at last place in the ODAC for scoring, averaging 63.7 PPG. Averett is led offensively by Jamison Graves, averaging 13.3 PPG. Graves has been extremely efficient from the field this season, shooting 45% from the floor, 43% from three, and 83% from the free-throw line.  Defensively, Jackson Sellars and Jason Sellars II have both been a dominant interior presence, tallying 11 blocks each so far this year.Â
The Hornets enter this contest on a two-game losing skid, dropping their most recent game to Virginia Wesleyan on the road, 59-97. Lynchburg has dominated on the glass this season, recording a conference-high 39.6 rebounds per contest. Offensively, freshman forward
Jamarcus Brown has been crucial for the Hornets as of late. Brown has scored 15+ in three of the last four games.Â
Following this affair, Lynchburg will return home to face off against the Washington & Lee Generals in Turner on Saturday, Jan. 25, at 4:30 p.m.Â
