Lynchburg, Va. --Â
Izaack Cruz netted his first two career goals sandwiched between a
Sean DeLorenzo score as the University of Lynchburg men's soccer team cruised to a 3-0 victory against cross-town rival Randolph on Wednesday night at Shellenberger Field.
The No. 22 Hornets (7-0-2, 2-0-0) emphatically improve their victorious streak to six straight games and have won all three contests at home so far this season. Cruz's brace represented the first goals of his collegiate career, just two of many to come. DeLorenzo earned his second tally of the season, scoring once before in the 9-0 route of Regent. Additionally, Lynchburg claimed its fifth clean sheet of the year with tonight's win against the WildCats (2-5-3, 0-3-0).
Just one minute into today's affair,
Isaac Torres sent a low cross from the left side of Lynchburg's offensive third that found a cutting Cruz in stride, setting the freshman up for his first goal as a Hornet as he buried it with force into the bottom left corner. The home squad held onto the one-goal advantage for over 37 minutes before the Hornets produced an attack that sparked from the backline.
William Casey sent
Bruno Rihl Silva streaking down the right alley, who collected and sent it across the field to the foot of DeLorenzo. The sophomore took one touch and fired it off the volley past the WildCat netminder Dominic Cortes.Â

The Hornets went into the halftime intermission with a two-goal advantage. Out of the break, Lynchburg found quick success. After Hornet keeper
Matthew Viscuso corralled a cross off a Randolph set piece, he set up a speedy counter as he punted the ball well past the midfield line to Cruz. Between two WildCat defenders, Cruz came away with possession and in two touches dished to
Chris Wiley sprinting upfield. Wiley gave it back to Cruz mere feet away from the goal frame and the Harrisonburg, Va. native buried it for Lynchburg's final score.
Â
Throughout the competition, the Hornets held the WildCats to just one shot while firing of 16 of their own, nine of which were on target. The one shot allowed represented the lowest total offensive chances Lynchburg has allowed to an opponent thus far in 2025. Through nine games, the Hornets have gotten off double-digit shots in every contest, with 16-or-more in the last six outings.
The Hornets will stay home for their next matchup when Averett visits Shellenberger Field on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 4 p.m.
