Troutville, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg equestrian team competed at the Washington and Lee/Roanoke IHSA and took home fourth place on Sunday.
The Hornets had three top finishers across all classes at the show and finished with 26 total points to earn fourth. Virginia Tech took first overall with 42 points with drop score, while Hollins and James Madison rounded out the top three with 29 and 28 total points, respectively.Â
Amaya Bellfield had a solid showing, taking first place in Open Fences and fourth place in Open Flat.
Jessica McElhaney represented Lynchburg in the Intermediate section, earning third place in Intermediate Flat B.
Four Hornet riders took part in the limit classes. Ava Watts earned fourth in Limit fences,
Sydney Price took third in Limit Flat A,
Clair Humphreys placed fifth in Limit Flat B, and Mackenzie Burch rounded out Lynchburg's Limit performers with a fourth-place finish in Limit Flat C.
The Hornets shined in the Novice classes as Ava Shores took first in Novice A and
Natalie Holdren claimed first in Novice Flat C.Â
Lynchburg now gears up for the ODAC Traditional Championships this Friday, Oct. 24 in Lexington, Va.
