Long Valley, N.J. -- The University of Lynchburg IHSA equestrian team traveled north for the Centenary Tournament of Champions and finished ninth overall of the 16-team field on Saturday.
A small group of Hornets competed at the TOC hosted by Centenary, highlighted by
Amaya Bellfield's first-place showing in the Open Flat B class. Bellfield also took part in the Open Fences A class and finished in fifth place.
Adam Matejko and
Jessica McElhaney each placed third in their respective classes, Matejko in Limit Flat A and McElhaney in Limit Fences B.
Ava Jackson took fifth in the Intermediate Fences A class, while
Annabella Shores also finished in fifth in the Novice B class. Amaya Shuler rounded out Lynchburg performers with a sixth-place finish in the Introductory B class.Â
The Lynchburg IHSA squad will return to action in the new year, first competing in the Tournament of Champions at SCAD-Savannah on Saturday, Jan. 24 at 10 a.m. in Savannah, Ga.
