Lynchburg Equestrian Ties Georgia In Points, Falls In Raw Score To Conclude SEC Weekend Swing

Bishop, Ga. -- The University of Lynchburg equestrian team tied Georgia in team points and fell in raw score to wrap up the squad's SEC swing over the weekend. The final team score was even at 6-6, but the Bulldogs claimed victory on the raw score by a decision of 994.0-931.0.

The NCEA single discipline No. 2 Hornets (4-2) matched up against the dual discipline No. 4 Bulldogs to close out back-to-back meets. Important to note that the overall outcome of the meet does not count towards Lynchburg's team record, but individual records will count, due to the fact that Lynchburg is single discipline and Georgia is dual discipline.

The meet began with the Fences, in which the Bulldogs claimed a 4-2 advantage following the event. Seniors Fallyn Belcastro and Emma Schweizer highlighted the Hornet performers for Fences with stellar scores above 90, both earning team points. Belcastro scored a 93 riding Campo to beat out Tessa Downey by three - toping the program record for Fences - while Schweizer earned a score of 91 riding Perry to nip her opponent, Catalina Peralta, by one. Junior Abby Zemp, senior Lucy Metzler, and junior MacKenna Moss earned scores of 77, 73, and 72, respectively, while freshman Madeline Rubin claimed a score of 60.

Lynchburg took over in the Flat, knotting the overall team points by winning the event, 4-2. Metzler, Belcastro, Schweizer and sophomore Kristin Palmer all notched team points for the Hornets. Metzler had the highest score for Lynchburg in the Flat with an 86 riding Gabe, defeating Ella Duffy by three. Schweizer had the next top score on the team with an 82 riding Swank, while Palmer scored an 80 riding Miso to round out Hornet performers that scored 80-or-better. Belcastro earned a score of 74 riding Marshal to take down Tessa P. Brown by three.
