Roanoke, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg equestrian squad claimed yet another first-place finish at the Hollins IHSA on Saturday, finishing the competitions with 41 total points with drop score accounted for.
Throughout the 2024-25 campaign, the Hornets have secured first place on seven different occasions on show days. In today's affair, Lynchburg beat out UVA for first place by a margin on five points with drop score.Â
The Hornets had four performers place atop the podium in today's outing. Senior
Lucy Metzler claimed first in the Open Fences B, junior
Zoey Horn earned first in the Intermediate Fences B, junior
Ava Jackson snagged first in the Limit Flat B, and sophomore
Clair Humphreys got first in the Novice Flat B.Â

Sophia Schorr was the sole Lynchburg performer to earn second in today's show, which came in the Introductory class. Five Hornets took the bronze medal in their class: senior
Margaret Stell (Open Fences A), Metzler (Open Flat B), junior
Elle Nutting (Intermediate Flat A), freshman
McKenzie Burch (Limit Fences B), and sophomore
Alexandra Miller (Novice Flat A).Â
Sophomore
Carlie Madonna was tabbed fourth in the Intermediate Flat B and fifth in Intermediate Fences A. Burch and sophomore
Kadin Bankel rounded out Lynchburg performers with fifth-place finishes in the Limit Fences A and Limit Flat A, respectively.
The next IHSA for the Hornets will be at Washington & Lee on Saturday, March 1 starting at 10 a.m. Prior to that, the Hornets are set to take on Sweet Briar for a NCEA meet on Friday, February 28 at 2 p.m.
