Lynchburg, Va. -- The Lynchburg men's lacrosse team (1-1) welcomes Salisbury (4-0) for a top-20 showdown on Shellenberger this Saturday, March 1.
The Seagulls have controlled the series between the two programs in recent history, winning nine of the last 10 meetings. Salisbury has a three-game winning streak over the Hornets, including a 13-8 win last season.
No. 3/2 Salisbury enters this match-up after a key 11-10 win over Gettysburg on the road. The Seagulls are coming off an impressive 21-1 finish in 2024. After winning 21 consecutive contests, Washington & Lee handed Salisbury their sole loss of the season, 16-15 OT, in the NCAA Quarterfinal.
Junior attackman Riley Strub leads the team in scoring with 13 goals this season. Meanwhile, senior midfielder Brice Bromwell stands as the team points leader with 27 on the season with nine goals and 18 assists. Bromwell ranks sixth in the nation for assists, contributing to the team's third overall ranking for assists.
The Seagulls are also exceptionally strong in ground balls, ranking second in the nation overall and seventeenth per game. Meanwhile, the Hornets rank ninth in the country for ground balls a game.
Lynchburg enters this affair after picking up their first win over the season, 21-12 over Pfeiffer. This win succeeded a 16-9 loss suffered against Gettysburg in a downpour of rain.
The Hornet offense found their groove in the most recent matchup, scoring 18 goals in the first three quarters.
Fifth-year midfielder
Jake Rust leads the team in goals and points, tallying a hat trick in each game this season. Fellow fifth-year
Grant Voigt has been an excellent distributor this season, tallying five assists, four coming against Pfeiffer.
The Hornets will turn to the road for their next contest, playing their first away game of the season against Denison on Sunday, March 9.
