Lynchburg, Va. -- The Lynchburg men's basketball team (10-10) welcomes Randolph (7-12) for a Code Red showdown this Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 7:30 p.m.
Lynchburg has won eight of the last ten meetings between the two schools. Nevertheless, Randolph won 66-65 in last season's matchup at Giles Gym.
The Wildcats are coming off a 72-96 loss at Virginia Wesleyan, a defeat that snapped their two-game win streak. Prior to those two wins, Randolph endured a 10-game losing skid that dated from Dec. 7 - Jan 25. Senior guard Jordan Phillips-McLoyd leads the ODAC in scoring, averaging 20.3 PPG. The last time Randolph played in Turner, during the Wayne Profit Classic, Phillips-McLoyd scored 38 points against Nazareth.
Alongside Phillips-McLoyd, Amari Gorham leads the conference in field goal percentage (.605) while contributing 10.3 points a game. Together, the tandem spearhead the ODAC's second highest scoring offense with 81.5 PPG. However, the Wildcats also allow the most points per game at 82.7. Lynchburg ranks in second to last in scoring defense, allowing 75.3 PPG.
Lynchburg currently sports a three-game losing skid and has lost five of their last six affairs. Freshman forward
Jamarcus Brown continues to lead the Hornets in scoring with 11.6 PPG.
This will be Lynchburg's first of three consecutive home games. The Hornets will play in Turner in four of their five final games.
