Lynchburg, Va. -- The Lynchburg men's basketball team (11-10) welcomes Shenandoah (7-14) for a conference showdown this Saturday, Feb. 8, at 2 p.m.
In the last 10 meetings between the two Hornet programs, Lynchburg has controlled the series. Lynchburg has won eight of the past 10 games, including a 72-68 victory in Winchester, Va. last season. Nevertheless, the last time Shenandoah played in Turner (1/28/23), they took down Lynchburg 87-86.
Shenandoah has lost seven of their last eight games, including a 72-68 loss to Lynchburg on their home court. In the first meeting between the two Hornets, freshman guard Shamir Taylor stole the show with a carrer-high 29 points. Dorian Davis leads the team in scoring on the season, averaging 13.5 PPG. Davis has also scored 16 or more in the past five games.
Lynchburg snapped a three game losing skid in their last matchup, taking down cross-town rival Randolph, 106-78. Last time Lynchburg faced Shenandoah,
Michael Gray and
Piercen Young combined for 40 points.
Jonathan Foust also had one of his best games of the season with 16 points of seven-of-seven shooting from the floor. Young, Gray, and
Jamarcus Brown are all currently tied for first on the team for scoring, each averaging 11.6 PPG.
Following this contest, Lynchburg will have a week-long hiatus before returning to the hardwood. The following Saturday, Feb. 15, the Hornets will welcome #7 Randolph-Macon for their second matchup this season.
