Owings Mills, Md. -- Following a deadlocked score at the halftime break, a run of seven straight goals out of the intermission allowed Stevenson to defeat the University of Lynchburg men's lacrosse team, 14-8, on Friday night at Mustang Stadium in the Callum Robinson Mustang Classic.

Liam Holman for the first score of the affair just 1:24 into the game. The No. 14 Mustangs answered back at the 8:56-mark, but Lynchburg went ahead again just 1:20 later with Holman's second goal of the outing.

Finn Schmidt and Hastings sandwiched goals between one from Stevenson's Taz Delaney and the squad's went into the intermission with an even 6-6 score.
The Mustang defense turned up the tenacity in the second half, holding Lynchburg scoreless for until the 6:03-mark in the fourth quarter. The drought for the Hornets lasted a total of 28:11, the longest time without a goal for Lynchburg this season. Jake Rust and Schmidt scored back-to-back goals in the final six minutes of the competition, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit.
Maryland natives had the most offensive production for the Hornets tonight. Towson, Md. product Holman notched a career-best five points in tonight's matchup on three apples and two goals, leading the Lynchburg offense. Schmidt out of Catonsville, Md. had a season-high three points on two goals and one assist. Hastings was the other Hornet with a multi-point game, scoring twice for his fourth game of the season with two-or-more points.Â
The men's lacrosse crew returns to action tomorrow to close out its competitions in the Callum Robinson Mustang Classic, squaring off against No. 4/5 Christopher Newport on Saturday, March 15 at 4 p.m.
