Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg men's lacrosse team is set to return home tomorrow to take on Averett on Saturday, April 12 at 7 p.m. for the team's senior day.
The team will be honoring 12 student athletes prior to tomorrow's competition for their hard work and dedication during their time at Lynchburg. Those student athletes will be:
Jake Rust,
Grant Voigt,
Connor Moore,
Andrew Miller,
Aidan Olmstead,
Sam Steele,
Conner Harlacher,
Cole Zacharias,
Thomas DeSouza,
Charlie Evans,
Carter Besz and
Alex Blanchard.
The No. 13 Hornets (7-5, 4-1) will meet the Cougars (4-9, 1-5) for Lynchburg's second-to-last home game of the season. The Cougars are led offensively Tigran Ceesay with 33 points on the season on 18 goals and 15 assists. Emmett Wood leads the team in goals scored with 22 and has dished out nine assists. As a team, Averett averages the least goals per game in the conference with 6.77 per affair. The Cougars also allow 16.57 goals per outing.
Lynchburg is the second-highest scoring offense in the conference and averages 16.25 goals per game, good for 11th in the nation for division III.
Riley Hastings leads the team in points with 22 goals and 20 assists. Rust tops the team in goals scored with 35 and has tallied four assists.
Liam Holman is close behind Rust in points with 21 goals and 17 assists on the season.
Following tomorrow's contest, the Hornets will take to the road again to square off at Shenandoah on Wednesday, April 16 at 7 p.m.
