Baltimore, Md. -- The University of Lynchburg IHSA equestrian squad began its 2025-26 campaign with 39 points for an impressive 2nd-place finish at the Goucher College Tournament of Champions on Saturday.
Lynchburg opened the day with points in Open Fences, where
Zoey Horn secured a third-place finish in the A section. In Open Flat B,
Jessica McElhaney rode to a second-place result in her group. She later earned first in the High Medal class, securing one of four first-place finishes for the Hornets in their respective classes.
Ava Jackson took the top spot in Intermediate Fences A. Jackson followed up with fourth-place in Intermediate Flat B.
Adam Matejko added to the first-place totals with the best finish in Limit Flat A, while Mckenzie Burch captured third place in Limit Fences B. The Novice sections saw Lynchburg's
Clair Humphreys snag the top spot in the B class. To round out Hornet performers, Shuler took fifth place in the Introductory B class.
Next up on the slate for the IHSA team is its annual home show, which will take place at the Lynchburg Equestrian Center in Rustburg, Va. from Saturday, Oct. 4 through Sunday, Oct. 5.
