Women's Volleyball Narrowly Drops Two Five-Set Contest

Dallas, Pa. -- The University of Lynchburg women's volleyball team dropped a pair of five-set matches against Misericordia and Cortland on Saturday.

Lynchburg opened the day with a 25-21, 25-23, 19-25, 20-25, 15-13 loss to Misericordia at the Anderson Sports Center. After falling behind by two sets, the Hornets won the third and fourth frames to force a decisive fifth set.

Kate Hardie led Lynchburg with 17 kills and four service aces. Cambre Phillips added nine kills while hitting .250 and finished with three aces and 11 digs. Tori Williamson and Dylan Cline each recorded six kills.

Alexis Scipione distributed 33 assists and added 15 digs and three aces. Mia Hinkamper collected 13 digs and served three aces. The Hornets finished the match with 47 kills, 44 assists, 16 service aces, 62 digs and seven total blocks. Lynchburg held a 16-12 advantage in aces, while Misericordia recorded 14 blocks.

Lynchburg followed with another five-set contest against Cortland. The Hornets again overcame a two-set deficit before falling 25-23, 25-14, 18-25, 20-25, 15-10. Madi Pratt led Lynchburg's attack against Cortland with 11 kills on 22 attempts for a .273 hitting percentage. Pratt also recorded one solo block and three block assists. Evie Ballengee added eight kills and three block assists, while Ava Meinhardt finished with seven kills, two block assists and a team-best .375 hitting percentage.

Williamson totaled six kills, nine digs and one block assist. Hardie added six kills, one ace and one dig, while Phillips recorded five kills, 11 digs and one block assist. Kenstin Phelps led the Hornets with 16 assists and seven digs. Scipione supplied 12 assists, six digs and two kills, and Avery Hurley contributed four assists and five digs. Hinkamper added 11 digs and Lynchburg's other service ace. The Hornets totaled 46 kills, 38 assists, 62 digs and six blocks against Cortland.
