Greensboro, N.C. --Â The University of Lynchburg women's volleyball team earned a three-set victory over Guilford on Wednesday evening inside the Ragan-Brown Field House.
The Hornets won 25-20, 25-13, 25-19 to improve to 13-4 overall and 4-2 in conference play. Guilford moved to 6-14 overall and 2-3 in the conference. Lynchburg registered 39 kills and hit .225 for the match while holding Guilford to 18 kills and a .024 hitting percentage.
The Hornets recorded 13 kills in the opening set and broke a 13-13 tie with four consecutive points. Lynchburg later held a 23-17 advantage before closing the frame with a 25-20 victory. Lynchburg produced 12 kills in the second set and limited Guilford to five kills and a negative hitting percentage. The Hornets finished with their most efficient offensive performance in the third set, collecting 14 kills with four errors on 30 attempts for a .333 hitting percentage.
Leah DiNardo led Lynchburg with 10 kills on 18 attempts and hit a match-high .444.
Ava Meinhardt added eight kills with two errors on 17 attacks for a .353 hitting percentage. Meinhardt also contributed one service ace and two block assists.
Kate Hardie finished with seven kills, three service aces and six digs.
Cambre Phillips added six kills, two aces and eight digs, while
Evie Ballengee recorded four kills and two block assists.
Alexis Scipione led the Hornets with 17 assists and added one kill and four digs.
Kenstin Phelps supplied 14 assists and five digs.
Mia Hinkamper collected a team-high 11 digs, four assists and two service aces.
Haydyn Proscia and
Tori Williamson each added five digs, with Williamson also recording two kills and one ace. Lynchburg finished with 38 assists, nine service aces, 44 digs and two total blocks. Guilford recorded 16 assists, three aces, 41 digs and 2.5 blocks.
The Hornets are set for a Saturday double header on the road against Scranton and No. 6 Juniata on October 10 in Huntingdon, Pa.
