Rustburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg equestrian team earned eight of the meet's 10 points to defeat Bridgewater, 8-2, on Saturday at the Lynchburg Equestrian Center.
The Hornets secured a 4-1 victory in Fences before adding four more points on the Flat. Lynchburg also held an 828-719 advantage in the combined raw score, outscoring the Eagles in both events.
Amaya Bellfield led the Fences lineup with a meet-high score of 90 aboard Motaz, earning the point over Aine Cary, who recorded a score of zero. Bellfield's performance marked the highest Fences score of the afternoon.
Madeline Rubin followed with an 87 aboard Tommy to defeat Willow Wright's score of 80. Stella Patenaude contributed an 86 on Zehn, narrowly securing her point over Margaret Brown, who finished with an 85.
Rebecca Collier completed Lynchburg's four Fences victories with an 81 aboard Luna, topping Jimena Garcia Nunez's score of 77. Mary Katherine Ragsdale rounded out the Hornets' lineup with a 50 on Jethro but fell to Madeline Granger's score of 76.
Lynchburg finished Fences with a 394-318 advantage in raw score.
Bellfield continued her strong afternoon on the Flat, recording a meet-high 92 aboard Caleb to defeat Granger's 75. Her performance marked the highest individual score across both events and completed a two-point outing.
Collier also secured her second point of the competition, posting a 91 aboard Ollie to defeat Garcia Nunez, who finished with a 79. Collier's 12-point margin was the largest among Lynchburg's Flat victories.
Rubin completed her own two-point performance with an 88 on Lizzy, topping Brown's score of 83. Ragsdale bounced back from her Fences result to secure Lynchburg's fourth Flat point, recording an 80 aboard Eragon to defeat Margarita Trukhina's 73.
Kristin Palmer rounded out the Flat lineup with an 83 aboard Itina but fell to Wright, who posted a 91.
Lynchburg claimed the Flat raw score by a 434-401 margin to complete the six-point team victory. Lilly Yinger also recorded demonstration scores of 74 and 79 aboard Luna.
