Forest, Va. -- Following two dominant victories over Hollins and Bridgewater last weekend, University of Lynchburg equestrian riders
Amaya Bellfield and
Madeline Rubin were selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Riders of the Week, announced by the conference office on Wednesday.
Bellfield and Rubin were stellar across the board in both competitions last week, helping their team to a 7-3 triumph over Hollins and an 8-2 win against Bridgewater. Bellfield was named the Flat Rider of the Week while Rubin was honored as the Fences Rider of the Week.
The Longmont, Colo. native Bellfield averaged a score of 90 in the flat across the two competitions. After receiving a score of 88 riding Caleb and the MOP in the flat against Hollins, Bellfield rode to a season-best 92 on Caleb against Bridgewater. That score also tied the second-best performance in the fences in program history. Additionally, the sophomore scored a 90 in fences on Motaz versus Bridgewater and an 85 riding Motaz against Hollins.
Rubin produced impressive performances in both meets as well, starting with an 88 riding Tommy in the fences against Hollins. Her showing on Friday was enough for the MOP award in the event. The junior followed up with an 87 riding Tommy again on Saturday against Bridgewater. She added a fantastic score of 88 in the flat on Lizzy against the Eagles.
Bellfield earns her second weekly conference award of the season and fifth of her collegiate career. Rubin claims her first Rider of the Week honor this season and second of her time with the Hornets. Lynchburg is set to finish up the fall portion of the season against Sewanee on Saturday, November 7 at 10 a.m.
