Winchester, Va. – The University of Lynchburg men's and women's cross country teams collected second-place team finishes and posted 13 All-ODAC performances at the 2026 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships at Kernstown Battlefield.

Aidan Riggle and Adelynn Carpenter led the Hornets with fifth-place marks in their respective races, while freshman James Mulcahy earned ODAC Rookie of the Year on the men's side. The 2026 race marked the second time in the past three years that Lynchburg secured ODAC Rookie of the Year honors, as Alex Jordan earned the award in 2024.

In the men's 8,000m, Lynchburg posted 45 points and maintained a 39-second spread between its top five finishers. Riggle's 25:33.8 performance on the arduous course solidified Lynchburg's top time, while the senior led throughout early portions of the race.

Ty Blair crossed the line in 25:49.1 for seventh place, while Mulcahy's 25:59.7 result produced a 10th-place performance. Directly behind the freshman, Jack Weddle clocked 26:03.7 for 11th, while Alex Paciello finished in 26:12.0 for 12th.

Washington and Lee won the men's competition with 16 points as the Generals secured the top four individual positions.

The Lynchburg women totaled 64 points to earn second place in the women's 6,000m, just two points ahead of Batten. Adelynn Carpenter's 23:31.3 mark for fifth place led the Hornets and matched her placement at the 2024 ODAC Championships.

Savannah Wood crossed the line in 23:48.7 for eighth place as the second-highest freshman finisher. Kami Wlodyka posted a 24:26.0 display for 13th.
