Lookout Mountain, Ga. -- The University of Lynchburg men's soccer team completed a successful trip to the Peach State with a 5-0 triumph against Covenant on Saturday afternoon at Scotland Yard.

The No. 14 Hornets (4-1) produced a whopping nine goals across two matches the past two days with the win against the Scots (0-4). Jefferson Lopez Coreas opened the scoring with an unassisted goal at 9:36, recording his third goal of the season. Carlos Andres Romero extended the lead at 36:30 with his second goal of the year, assisted by Hector Rodriquez. The Hornets carried a 2-0 advantage into halftime.

Lynchburg added its third goal just 61 seconds into the second half when Lopez Coreas scored his second unassisted goal of the match and fourth of the season. Chris Wiley converted a penalty kick at 75:00 for his third goal of the year. Fischer Daniel completed the scoring at 88:11, recording his first goal of the season from a Sean DeLorenzo assist.

The Hornets finished with a 26-6 advantage in shots and placed 12 attempts on goal. Lynchburg took 11 shots in the opening half and 15 after halftime. Covenant did not register a shot on goal.

Saul Lopez Coreas led Lynchburg with four shots, including one on target. Jefferson Lopez Coreas and William Casey recorded three attempts apiece. All three of Jefferson Lopez Coreas' shots were on goal. Chris Bovo and Hector Rodriquez each took two shots and placed one on target. Carlos Andres Romero had two attempts, including one on goal.

Vikram Couto played the opening 77:43 in goal, and Stefan Kapitanov completed the final 12:17. Neither goalkeeper was required to make a save as they combined for the shutout. Covenant goalkeeper JT Tolson made seven saves.

Lynchburg held 62 percent of the possession and earned 11 corner kicks, compared with three for Covenant. The Hornets were called for 10 fouls and four offsides, while Covenant committed eight fouls and was not ruled offside. Each team received two yellow cards, and neither was issued a red card.

Next up, Lynchburg travels to Fredericksburg, Va. for a midweek showdown against Mary Washington on Wednesday, September 16 at 4 p.m.
