Fredericksburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg men's soccer team scored twice in a 59-second span during the second half to earn a 2-2 draw with Mary Washington on Wednesday afternoon at Roy Gordon Field.

Although the No. 10 Hornets (4-1-1) played a scoreless opening half against the No. 13 Eagles (4-0-1), the offenses on both squads eventually produced in the second half. Mary Washington opened the scoring at 54:51 when Andrew Brittain recorded his sixth goal of the season. Michael Lenhard doubled the Eagles' lead 61 seconds later, scoring his second goal of the year at 55:52.

After nearly 20 minutes of action, the Hornets answered at 75:26 when Jefferson Lopez Coreas scored his fifth goal of the season off an assist from Fischer Daniel. Angel Romero tied the match at 76:25 with his first goal of the year.

Lynchburg recorded four shots and two corner kicks during the first 45 minutes, while Mary Washington finished the half with seven shots and two corners. Lynchburg took 10 shots during the second half and finished even with Mary Washington at 14 total attempts. The Hornets placed four shots on goal, while the Eagles recorded nine.

Jefferson Lopez Coreas led Lynchburg with three shots, including two on goal. Matthew Viscuso and Bruno Rihl Silva each recorded two attempts. Romero scored on his only shot, while Carlos Andres Romero placed his lone attempt on goal. Isaac Torres, Saul Lopez Coreas, Hector Rodriquez, Erik Vasquez and Chris Bovo each added one shot.

Vikram Couto played all 90 minutes in goal and made six saves. Lynchburg also recorded one team save. Mary Washington goalkeeper Zaine Asim finished with two saves.
The Hornets held a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks, earning four after halftime. Lynchburg was called for 12 fouls, while Mary Washington committed 11. The Hornets were ruled offside once, and the Eagles were called offside twice.

The men's soccer squad has completed its six-game road stand to begin the season and will host its home opener on Saturday, September 19 against RV Hope on Shellenberger Field at 2 p.m.
