Earlysville, Va. – The University of Lynchburg men's cross country team posted a dominant first-place finish at the South Region Preview with 28 points, while the women secured third place with 104 points behind Saint Francis and Southern Virginia.
Men's Race
Despite racing in warm conditions, the Lynchburg men occupied six of the top 11 points to topple second-place Pfeiffer by over 60 points. Ty Blair earned the individual victory at the line with a 25:43.0 8k performance, while Aidan Riggle finished one second behind for a 25:44.1 third-place mark.
Cameron Sidebotham settled into fifth place, crossing the line in 26:02.9 to funnel three Hornets into the top five. To close the scoring, Alex Paciello posted 26:08.9 for eighth, while Nate Cochran clocked 26:27.1 for 12th.
Saturday's result marked Lynchburg's first team victory of the season, while Ty Blair clinched the first individual win of his Lynchburg career.Â
Women's Race
Adelynn Carpenter's eighth-place finish helped the Hornets to a third-place team result on the women's side.
Carpenter clocked 23:13.0 in the women's 6k, which marked her first 6k since the South Region Showdown in October 2025. The junior missed the 2025 postseason with an injury.
Savannah Wood crossed the line in 24:11.5 for 17th place, while Sydney Davis secured a 25:03.0 performance for 25th. The pair of freshmen crossed the line as the sixth and ninth ODAC finishers in the race.
Winter Tietjen finished closely behind with a 25:15.3 display for 27th, and to close out the top five, Ella Warren submitted a 25:18.7 performance for 29th.
Next Up
The Hornets return to action on Friday, Oct. 2 and Saturday, Oct. 3 in the team's first split-squad weekend of the season, as the teams compete at the Richmond Invitational and 2026 Running of the Cows.
