Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg returned to nonconference play with its ninth sweep of the season against Catholic on Saturday afternoon in Turner Gym.

The RV Hornets (9-1) won against the Cardinals (3-6) by set scores of 25-8, 25-14 and 25-15. Lynchburg finished with 41 kills and only six attack errors on 83 attempts, producing a .422 hitting percentage. The Hornets hit .476 in the opening set, recording 11 kills with one error on 21 attempts. They added 18 kills and hit .441 in the second before closing the match with a .357 percentage in the third.

Kate Hardie led Lynchburg with 11 kills and hit .381 on 21 attempts. Hardie also recorded five service aces, two assists, two digs and one block assist. Ava Meinhardt finished with nine kills and no errors on 16 attempts for a .562 hitting percentage. She added two aces and two block assists. Leah DiNardo contributed eight kills with one error on 11 attempts, posting a team-best .636 hitting percentage.

Tori Williamson recorded five kills, four digs and two aces. Cambre Phillips added two kills, 11 digs, three service aces and one block assist. Mia Hinkamper led the Hornets with 17 digs and also registered one kill and three assists.

Kenstin Phelps directed Lynchburg's attack with 25 assists while adding two kills, five digs and one ace. Alexis Scipione contributed eight assists in two sets. The Hornets totaled 40 assists, 42 digs, 14 service aces and two team blocks.

Lynchburg limited Catholic to 18 kills and 12 attack errors on 78 attempts for a .077 hitting percentage. The Cardinals hit .000 in each of the first two sets before posting a .222 percentage in the third. The match featured three ties and one lead change.

The Hornets return to ODAC action this week as they travel to Danville, Va. to take on Averett on Wednesday, September 23 at 6 p.m.
