Lynchburg, Va. -- After an exciting last-second goal provided a victory yesterday against Hope, the University of Lynchburg men's soccer team ousted Salisbury, 5-1, on Sunday afternoon at Shellenberger Field.

Five different performers scored for the No. 10 Hornets (6-1-1) on their way to triumph against the Sea Gulls (6-1-1). Isaac Torres opened the scoring at 1:21 with his first goal of the season. Salisbury answered at 17:53 when Brogan Eastlack scored an unassisted goal to tie the match.

Lynchburg regained the lead at 24:53. Jefferson Lopez Coreas scored his sixth goal of the season off an assist from William Casey, giving the Hornets a 2-1 advantage at halftime.
Casey extended the lead at 52:33 with his second goal of the year. Carlos Andres Romero added an unassisted goal at 59:58, recording his third of the season. Fischer Daniel completed the scoring at 82:26 with his second goal of the year.

The Hornets finished with a 16-12 advantage in total shots and placed nine attempts on goal. Lynchburg recorded six shots in the first half before adding 10 after halftime. Casey led the Hornets with three shots and placed two on goal. Torres and Matthew Viscuso each took two shots and put one on target. Carlos Andres Romero recorded two attempts, including one on goal. Jefferson Lopez Coreas, Hector Rodriguez, Kohlby Wilson and Daniel each scored or placed their lone shot on target.

Vikram Couto played all 90 minutes in goal for Lynchburg and made three saves. Salisbury goalkeeper Nate Jones recorded four saves. Possession was even at 50 percent for each team. Salisbury held a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks, while Lynchburg was called for 12 fouls compared with eight by the Sea Gulls. The Hornets were ruled offside twice, and Salisbury was called offside four times. Each team received two yellow cards, and neither side was issued a red card.

Lynchburg is set for its first conference competition on Saturday, September 26 at 7 p.m. against Randolph-Macon on Shellenberger Field.
