Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg produced comeback efforts in all three sets to earn a hard-fought sweep against Roanoke on Friday night in Turner Gym.

The RV Hornets (11-1, 2-1 ODAC) won against the Maroons (9-4, 1-1) by set scores of 25-17, 25-20 and 26-24. Lynchburg recorded 48 kills and 20 attack errors on 121 attempts for a .231 hitting percentage. The Hornets opened the match with 15 kills and four errors, producing a match-best .289 hitting percentage in the first set. They added 16 kills in the second and 17 in the third.

Kate Hardie tied her career high in kills and led Lynchburg with 18 terminations and hit .275 on 40 attempts. Hardie also recorded nine digs and one block assist, finishing with a match-high 18.5 points. Tori Williamson and Leah DiNardo each contributed 10 kills. Williamson hit .231 and added three digs and one block assist. DiNardo recorded a team-best .389 hitting percentage with 10 kills and three errors on 18 attempts.

Cambre Phillips finished with six kills, a match-high 16 digs, two service aces and one block assist. Ava Meinhardt added four kills and three block assists. Kenstin Phelps directed the Lynchburg attack with 43 assists and collected 13 digs. Mia Hinkamper also recorded 13 digs while adding three assists and one service ace. Haydyn Proscia served two aces, and Avery Hurley contributed another.

The Hornets finished with 48 assists, 62 digs, six service aces and three team blocks. Roanoke totaled 25 kills and 12 errors on 106 attempts for a .123 hitting percentage. Lynchburg held the Maroons to five kills and a .069 percentage in the first set. The match included 16 ties and eight lead changes. The third set featured eight ties and four lead changes before Lynchburg secured the 26-24 victory.
