Sewanee, Tenn. -- The University of Lynchburg women's volleyball team finished its three-match road stand at Sewanee with a sweeping victory against Transylvania on Saturday afternoon at Juhan Gymnasium.

The RV Hornets (4-0) won against the Pioneers (1-2) by set scores of 26-24, 25-18 and 25-16, improving to 4-0 on the season. The opening set included 12 ties and seven lead changes before Lynchburg secured the two-point win. The Hornets then won the second set by seven points and the third by nine. Across the final two sets, there were three ties and two lead changes.

Lynchburg totaled 44 kills and 12 attack errors on 112 attempts for a .286 hitting percentage. The Hornets recorded 14 kills in each of the first two sets before finishing with 16 in the third. Lynchburg hit at least .273 in all three sets, including .293 in the opener.

Kate Hardie led the Hornets with 15 kills and a .353 hitting percentage on 34 attempts. Hardie also recorded six digs and two block assists. Cambre Phillips finished with nine kills, four digs and one service ace.

Tori Williamson and Ava Meinhardt contributed seven kills apiece. Meinhardt hit .462 with just one error on 13 attempts while adding one service ace, one solo block and one block assist. Williamson collected eight digs and two assists. Leah DiNardo registered three kills without an error on seven attempts, producing a .429 hitting percentage.

Kenstin Phelps directed Lynchburg's attack with 37 assists and also contributed three kills and eight digs. Mia Hinkamper led the Hornets with 10 digs while recording a service ace and two assists. Haydyn Proscia and Olivia Clark each added one ace.

The Hornets finished with 43 assists, 39 digs, five service aces and three team blocks. Lynchburg did not surrender a service ace. Transylvania recorded 33 kills and 20 attack errors on 104 attempts for a .125 hitting percentage.

Next up, Lynchburg will host its home opener for a weekend tournament on Friday, September 11 and Saturday, September 12. The Hornets will square off against Mary Baldwin, Geneva, Piedmont, and Warren Wilson across the two-day tournament.
