Director of track & field Jim sprecher and the Hornets are grateful for your support of the team!

The Hornets have won every conference championship since 2021 as part of 19 team titles in all during Sprecher’s tenure. He has coached more than 25 All-Americans and seen over 30 event records fall across cross country, indoor track & field, and outdoor track & field during his time at the helm along with many more all-state and all-region accolades.

2024 was a remarkable season for the legacy of the indoor and outdoor track and field teams. The 2024 track and field distance medley relay team claimed the 2024 NCAA Division III Indoor National Championship title. Sam Llaneza was the 1,500-meter NCAA DIII national champion. Along with 2024 VaSID Athlete of the Year honors for Llaneza and Aniya Seward, 19 athletes won All-Virginia honors for the 2024 outdoor track and field season.

Sprecher led Lynchburg to a historic year from start to finish throughout the 2022-23 academic year. Both the men’s and women’s teams swept the ODAC ‘triple crown’ for the second-straight season by winning the cross country, indoor track & field, and outdoor track & field conference championships.

A note from director of track & field Jim Sprecher:
"We are very grateful for the support of our program over the years, and I'm proud of the history of Lynchburg Track & Field. Your generous support helps us continue to develop our student-athletes into premier athletes and give them a championship experience year after year. Thank you."
