Allen Smith joined the Lynchburg golf staff as a graduate assistant coach in the summer of 2021.

He coaches the women's and men's golf programs at Lynchburg and also serves as the recruiting coordinator.

In the first season with the men's program, he coached Eddie Coffren V to the program's first ODAC player of the year award since 1988 and GCAA Honorable Mention All-America honors. Smith traveled with Coffren V to Florida where the freshman competed in the NCAA tournament. Smith also coached Andrew Watson to his second all-conference season. As a team, the Hornets earned four top-5 tournament finishes and set a program record for scoring average at 298.6.

The women's program won four tournaments and saw sophomore Emily Brubaker become the team's first NCAA tournament qualifier in program history during Smith's first season with the team.

A graduate of Old Dominion Athletic Conference rival Hampden-Sydney College, Smith was a standout golfer for the Tigers, collecting all-conference honors in three seasons, including a co-ODAC rookie of the year honor as a freshman. He was the Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2021 and earned Academic All-American honors as a junior and senior.

The Durham, N.C. native graduated from Hampden-Sydney in 2021 with a degree in psychology. Smith is currently pursuing a master's in business administration at Lynchburg.
