  • Title
    Assistant Softball Coach

Danielle Powell joined Lynchburg's softball staff following a standout playing career for the Hornets that spanned from 2013-16.

In the time since, Powell has helped guide the Hornets to a pair of NCAA tournament appearances, a regional title in 2019, and National Fastpitch Coaches Association Atlantic Region coaching staff of the year honors that same season.

Powell was a three-time VaSID All-State and two-time All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference player between outfield and third base in that time, helping Lynchburg to a pair of NCAA Division III tournament appearances in her career. She is the program's all-time leader in career games played (180) and career at bats (579) and is one of 13 players in program history to record a two-home run ballgame. She earned All-South Region honors as a sophomore in 2014, hitting .384 with team-highs in hits (58) and RBI (48).

Lynchburg has reached two NCAA tournaments in Powell's time on the coaching staff, and she was a member of the Hornets' 2019 South Region coaching staff of the year.

She graduated from Lynchburg with a degree in athletic training in 2016 and is currently pursuing a master's in sport management at Liberty University.
