Whitney Hopson

Whitmey Hopson joined the Lynchburg women's basketball staff as an assistant coachin August 2023. 

Hopson served as an assistant coach at Shenandoah during the 2022-23 season. Shenandoah went 19-10 with Hopson on staff, reached the conference championship, and produced three all-conference players including first-teamer Terese Greene. Hopson's team had a 3.6 GPA in the fall and accumulated 450 volunteer hours of community service. 

Hopson participated in the "So You Want to be A Coach" program organized by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association in 2023 and interned for Roanoke College's assistant athletic director during her senior year of college in Salem, Va.

Nichols coached Hopson for three of Hopson's four seasons at Roanoke. As a four-year starter for the Maroons, Hopson served as team captain during her junior and senior years, won the conference's defensive player of the year award and was on the all-conference team in 2020-21, was a third-teamer in 2018-19, and was named the conference's player of the week three times.
